Install Guide

Magnet, All-LOXX®, or retention kit.

Pick the install that matches what you ordered. Mag is tool-free. Factory All-LOXX® locks on with positive fasteners. DIY retention kits need a ⅜" drill and a careful bond.

Magnetic Series

Magnet install.

For Magnetic Series UTV covers (and the Mag side of RV hybrids). One-time setup · usually under 15 minutes · no tools.

Before you start

Every Mag cover ships with:

  • FIT windshield cover (custom-cut, N52 magnets in the perimeter)
  • Interior magnet set (glow-in-the-dark center sticker + adhesive backing)
  • Install / warranty inserts
  • Any accessories you ordered (cleaner, removable pads, etc.)

You’ll also want: painter’s tape and clean hands. No special tools.

1. Position the cover on the outside

Hold or tape the cover flat against the outside of the windshield so the perimeter sits where you want it. Painter’s tape at the corners keeps it steady while you work from inside.

2. Peel one interior magnet

Each interior magnet has a glow sticker for alignment. Use the factory 3M VHB for a permanent mount, or a nano suction pad if you want removable magnets.

3. Line up & press from inside

From inside, align the glow sticker behind a cover magnet on the outside — you’ll feel the snap. Press 10–15 seconds. Repeat around the perimeter.

4. Wait 30 minutes, then test

Let adhesive set. Remove the cover, bring it back from about an inch away, and confirm it snaps flush all the way around.

Factory All-LOXX®

All-LOXX® install.

For covers ordered as All-LOXX® (or Mag covers factory-upgraded to All-LOXX®). Fasteners are already in the cover — you detach each base, bond it to the glass with the included polyurethane adhesive, then LOXX® the cover on after it cures.

Different from Mag. All-LOXX® covers do not use interior glass magnets. Each LOXX® base bonds to clean glass; the cover locks on with positive-lock fasteners (300+ lb each). Warranty requires this install — see warranty terms.

1. Clean the glass

Wipe the entire outside glass area where the bases will mount with isopropyl alcohol. No wax, silicone, Windex, or dirty film. Let it flash dry. Keep the glass above ~40°F while bonding (garage or hair dryer if it’s colder).

2. Line the cover up

Place the cover on the windshield exactly where it should sit — centered and covering the full glass. This sets the position for every base. Have a friend hold it, or prop it so it doesn’t shift.

3. Detach the base from the fastener

At the first corner, pull the LOXX® base plate off the fastener on the cover. Keep the cover lined up so that base lands in the right spot on the glass.

4. Apply the bonding agent

Apply the included polyurethane bonding agent / adhesive to the bottom of that base (the side that faces the glass). Use what shipped with your cover — not a substitute glue.

5. Hold it in place for 60 seconds

Press the base firmly onto the glass in its lined-up position and hold steady pressure for 60 seconds while the adhesive grabs. Don’t shortcut this.

6. Work your way around the cover

Repeat for every fastener: detach the next base → apply bonding agent → press to glass → hold 60 seconds. One plate at a time until every LOXX® base is bonded to the exterior glass.

7. Let it cure — 24 hours before attaching the cover

Leave the cover off the bases and let the adhesive cure for 24 hours before you LOXX® the cover onto the bonded bases. Attaching early is the most common cause of a lifted plate. After 24 hours, align the cover and press two fingers around each LOXX until it clicks positive. The bases stay on the glass.

DIY / replacement

LOXX® Retention Kit install.

If you purchased the LOXX® Retention Kit to retrofit a Mag cover or replace fasteners, use these steps. This is hardware install — not the Mag magnet process.

Tools: ⅜" drill bit, drill, isopropyl alcohol, the LOXX® fasteners from your kit, and either the adhesive pads on the bases or polyurethane bonding adhesive.

A. Prepare the cover (drill the holes)

  1. Mark where you want each LOXX® fastener on the cover.
  2. Using a ⅜" drill bit, drill out the holes at those marks.
  3. Push the LOXX® fastener through the cover from the outside face.
  4. Put the washer on the back side of the cover.
  5. Screw the back part of the fastener onto the backside until the assembly is snug and the cover is clamped cleanly — don’t crush the foam core.

B. Bond the bases on the vehicle

  1. Clean the glass (and metal mount area if applicable) with isopropyl alcohol. Both surfaces must be clean and dry.
  2. Line the cover up on the glass where the fasteners should sit.
  3. Detach the base from the fastener on the cover.
  4. Apply the included polyurethane bonding agent to the base.
  5. Press the base to the glass and hold firm pressure for 60 seconds.
  6. Work your way around the cover — one base at a time — until every plate is bonded.
  7. Let cure 24 hours before LOXXing the cover onto the bases.

Troubleshooting

If something’s off.

Cover doesn’t feel tight (Mag)+

Check that every interior magnet lined up with a cover magnet — one magnet off by ¼" can cut hold a lot. Give adhesive a full hour before highway testing.

Interior magnet popped off the glass+

Usually the glass wasn’t cleaned well enough (or it was installed cold). Wipe with alcohol, warm glass above ~65°F, then re-apply with fresh adhesive. We don’t send free replacement magnets for this — reach out to info@fitprotection.com if you need new adhesives, which could come with a fee.

LOXX® base won’t stay bonded+

Usually the glass wasn’t cleaned well enough, it was too cold, the plate wasn’t held for a full 60 seconds, or the cover was locked on before the 24-hour cure. Re-clean with alcohol, re-bond with the included polyurethane adhesive, hold 60 seconds, and wait 24 hours before LOXXing the cover back on. Email info@fitprotection.com if you need replacement adhesive.

Cover whistles or flaps at speed+

Check the top edge first. Reseat a quarter inch lower or confirm every Mag/LOXX point is engaged. Send a photo to support if it persists.
