Install Guide

One-time setup. Under 15 minutes. No tools.

Position the cover on the outside, set your interior magnets to match, and you're done. Ready to use 30 minutes after install.

Before you start

Check your kit.

Every FIT cover ships with the following. If anything's missing, email info@fitprotection.com and we'll replace it free.

  • FIT windshield cover (custom-cut to your rig, with N52 magnets sewn into the perimeter)
  • Interior magnet set — each with a glow-in-the-dark center sticker and adhesive backing
  • FIT informational inserts (install instructions + 1-year warranty card)
  • Any accessories you ordered (vinyl cleaner, replacement magnets, etc. — packed in the same box)

You'll also need: something to tape the cover in place temporarily (painter's tape works great) and clean hands to keep glass prints down. No special tools.

Step by step

The install.

1. Position the cover on the outside of the windshield.

Hold or tape the cover flat against the outside of your glass so the perimeter sits where you want it to live. The cover has N52 magnets sewn into its perimeter — those are what your interior magnets are going to line up with. Painter's tape at the corners is the easiest way to hold it steady while you work from inside.

2. From inside, peel the adhesive backing off one interior magnet.

Each interior magnet has a small glow-in-the-dark sticker centered on its face. That sticker is your alignment target — it tells you exactly where the center of the magnet is. Pick whichever adhesive option you have on the back: standard 3M for a permanent install, or removable magnet adhesive if you plan to swap covers between rigs.

3. Line up & press to the glass.

From inside the vehicle, position the interior magnet so its glow sticker lines up directly behind one of the cover's perimeter magnets on the outside. You'll feel the magnetic pull snap them together — that's your alignment confirmation. Press firmly for 10–15 seconds to set the adhesive. Repeat for every magnet around the perimeter.

4. Wait 30 minutes, then test.

Give the adhesive 30 minutes to set. Then peel the cover off the outside, line it back up against the interior magnets, and let go from about an inch away. The cover snaps into place. Run your palm around the perimeter to confirm flush contact at every magnet — no gaps at the corners.

That's it. Future installs and removals take under a minute.

Troubleshooting

If something's off.

Cover doesn't feel tight+

Check that every interior magnet lined up with a cover magnet — a single magnet that's off by 1/4" can reduce hold by 40%. If alignment looks right but it still feels loose, give the adhesive a full hour to fully set before highway testing.

Interior magnet popped off the glass+

Usually means the glass wasn't clean before install or ambient temp was below 50°F. Wipe the spot with rubbing alcohol from your medicine cabinet, warm the glass to at least 65°F with a hair dryer, then re-apply. We'll ship replacement magnets free if you need them — just email info@fitprotection.com.

Cover whistles or flaps at highway speed+

Check the top edge first — that's where lift starts. Run a fingertip along the seam to find the gap, then reseat the cover a quarter inch lower. If it persists, send us a photo and we'll make it right.

Can I install with factory tint?+

Yes. The adhesive bonds to tint film just as well as bare glass. If your tint is freshly installed, let it fully cure (2+ weeks) before mounting the interior magnets.

Which adhesive should I use — 3M or removable?+

Standard 3M — strongest hold, permanent install. Use this if the cover lives on one specific rig. Removable magnet adhesive — designed for swapping the cover between vehicles (e.g., one cover, two UTVs). Slightly less aggressive bond but still rated for highway speeds.
