Installation in 4 Steps
One of the biggest advantages of magnetic windshield covers is installation speed. No straps to thread, no suction cups to lick, no tools to dig out. Here's the process.
Step 1: Clean the Windshield Frame (First Time Only)
Wipe down the metal frame around your windshield with a damp cloth. The magnets attach to the steel frame, so remove any road grime or debris that might prevent a clean seal. You only need to do this the first time — after that, a quick wipe is enough.
Step 2: Unfold the Cover
Remove the cover from its storage bag and unfold it in front of your RV. FIT Protection covers pack down to the size of a sleeping bag, so they store easily in any compartment. Lay it out on the ground or hold it up in front of the windshield.
Step 3: Align and Attach
Lift the cover to your windshield and align the top edge first. The N52 neodymium magnets will start grabbing the frame immediately — you'll feel the pull. Walk the cover down from top to bottom, pressing the magnetic edges against the frame as you go. The magnets self-align, so you don't need to be precise.
Step 4: Smooth and Confirm
Run your hand along the magnetic perimeter to confirm full contact. There should be no gaps or lifted edges. The cover should sit flat against the glass with the magnetic edges sealed to the frame all the way around.
Total time: 10–15 minutes for a full-size RV windshield. Under 30 seconds for a UTV.
Removal
Peel from one corner. The magnets release cleanly — no residue, no damage to paint or glass. Fold the cover back into its storage bag. Total removal time: under 2 minutes.
Tips for Best Results
- Always attach before towing — the cover protects during highway travel, not at camp
- Make sure wipers are down — the cover sits over the wipers for full coverage
- Store dry — if the cover gets wet from rain, shake it off before folding to prevent mildew
- Don't drive with it on — the cover is for towing, storage, and parking only
Why Magnets Make This So Easy
FIT Protection covers use N52 neodymium magnets with 250 lb pull force embedded in a continuous channel around the full perimeter. They're the strongest permanent magnets commercially available. The cover doesn't just sit on your windshield — it locks on. And it releases just as easily when you peel from a corner.
Compare this to strap-on covers that take 20–30 minutes and require threading straps through door jambs. There's no contest.
